I flooded my 99 jeep cherokee xj 4x4 4.0 straight 6 a few days ago. I replaced the starter, then I removed the spark plugs and blew the water out of the cylinders. I had to do this by connecting the wires of the starter manually, as turning the key did nothing other than power on lights inside. Now the engine runs good but can only turn when powered from the starter. I also have an automatic starter, which turns on lights and radio in the car but doesn't start it. Where could there be an issue? I've checked all the fuses and ripped apart most of the dash looking for loose wires.
