Vibration upon acceleration?

I have a 2001 Volvo that has begun vibrating only upon acceleration. As soon as I let off the gas, it stops. I can't afford to take it to the shop so hopefully it is something simple. Also, I have not been able to find a dip stick for the trans fluid on this new to me Swedish made car...any ideas here? Thanks!
