Am i insured to drive in the Republic of Ireland?

I'm insured on my mum's car. But basically I was wondering if i could drive it in the Republic, i currently live in Northern Ireland. My mum just said you're insured on my car so you can drive it anywhere, but I just want to check, thanks!!
