Rust in muzzleloader barrel, ok to shoot?

Bought a muzzleloader from a friend. It had a round in it, so I took it out and cleaned the barrel. While cleaning it noticed the gun cleaning patches were coming out rusty. Would it be ok to put a round in it and shoot? It's a TC renegade 50 cal. Suggestions would be appreciated.
