I found a used car for $4700.00 and according to the blue book value and searching the website that in itself was a fair price. I was able to get him down to $4500.00 and I also told him I would pay cash. When he wrote up the contract he charged me the taxes of course and even though I had my own tag they had a $105.00 transfer fee. I was O.K with this but then he puts on a $895.00 dealer fee. I asked him what was that about? He told me that all used car dealers have to pay this fee and this is very normal. I told him that the last used car I bought did not have this fee and he explained to me they all do but some hide it in the price of the car. I did get him to adjust this fee by half but is he right because this fee was never even discussed until we sat down to write up the contract. Did he take advantage of my stupidity? Is there anything I can do aboiut it?
