Ford Escort Estate rear brakes? Posted: 17 Jan 2013 05:05 AM PST Ford escort estate 1998, 1.8 turbo diesel. The near side rear brake binds when the car is carrying a load or some weight in the rear! You can smell the brake lining when you get out! Unloaded it is OK? Is there a brake actuator on the car which determines, load? Or could the weight be making the handbrake bind! As the brakes are self adjusting, I do not think there is any adjustment on the hand brake cable? Any ideas please.
