Car parked on left of road to drop passengers...?

Car parked on left of road to drop passengers...?

I was at acar park in centre town where a car was parked to drop off some passengers on the left side road, but didnt use any indication saying I'm dropping off. I took over the car quickly while another car was coming towards me on my right lane (not my lane, the other oncoming lane). I nearly had a collision with that car, it was their right of way, right? who's fault would it have been if we collided?
