My current vehicle, a 1995 Subaru Station Wagon (with a 1996 User's Manual) was driven by my sister on an about 2 hr drive. She reported that in whichever mode she was driving in (front wheel drive / all wheel drive) used up a lot of fuel. The user manual did say the fwd mode was for diagnostic reasons. I'm confused.
