Why are trains (in the US) not all the same colour? Posted: 26 Apr 2012 06:08 AM PDT In The Netherlands, all trains(MAT'64, NS Sprinter Lighttrain, NS VIRM) have the same paintjobs (Either blue/yellow or blue/white/yellow) so one can easily identify it as an NS-owned train. While browsing Wikipedia I came across several Amtrak owned trains like the GE Genesis, which had differing paintjobs in every picture. My question is: Why are not all Amtrak trains colored the same? Who chooses the color anyway and does it signify anything at all? |
