My car battery is not charging?

So I had a problem with the rear brake lights that wouldn't turn off, I ended up fixing but it drained the battery to the point it can't even try to start. So i jump started the car and made a hour and a half trip to my dads house hoping the battery was good but once i turned it off, the battery was completely dead again. Is this a battery problem or is the car not charging the battery?
