My lower back always hurts...?

I've gotten used to stretching everyday to relieve the pain my lower back has.. But now even though I stretch and try to crack my back with a lot of effort, the cracking sounds don't happen and the pain doesn't seem to go away unlike before, a simple strech would send my back into a cracking fiasco and the pain would instantly be gone. What happened???
