How Can I Stop Taking Mood Swings?

Every time I am on my period I take really bad mood swings and it is only really with my boyfriend. I just go in a bad mood with him for no reason and if he is trying to have a laugh with my I take it to heart. He was joking about with me last night and I ended up saying can you stop being a dick head to me. He was shocked and said I joke about with you all the time why are you being like this? I felt really crapped and just felt I could not be bothered with him but then when I go out being moody I feel really bad and I know I want hm. I am also on the pill. Is there anything I can get to control these mood swings??
